Their name is hidden so I don't think it violates the rules.

I’m talking more about etiquette here than rules. I don’t even know that there are any rules. When this issue has come up in the past, users have generally agreed that, as a matter of courtesy, if you use screen caps of someone else’s town, you should ask for the town builder’s permission. It doesn’t matter if the user ID is hidden or not.

I would imagine that many (and perhaps most?) users wouldn’t mind someone grabbing a cap of their SF. Or, like me, they might experience mild annoyance, but feel that pursuing such a minor matter wouldn’t be worth the bother. And it’s not as though the forum is populated with brownshirts intent on ferreting out and reporting evil doers. I’m only relaying the results of past discussions on the issue. If you consider this particular norm “dumb” (to use your word), I’m not going to waste my breath trying to change your mind.
