- The 10 mill are aspirational, they're supposed to be pricey.
As for the story buildings, if you're at level 44 you should be earning a decent chunk if money everyday.
Or maybe you're one of those people who wants everything without having earnt it. - I am a freemium so everything I have was earned through hard work, except for Otto who was bought with donuts. Donuts that were earned due to hard work. I haven't spent 1 penny on this game since October 2012 when I joined.
- Because there are day one players who have tons of money.
Because there are bored players who need something to work for.
Because a lot of people enjoy aspirationals.
You don't have to buy the new buildings at $1 million if you don't have it - wait a while and the costs will go down.
I am not, nor will I be, a house farmer. I am not a super premium player - I only have the premiums that I actually like - so my bonus percentage is well under 100%. It still only takes a few days to save up for the new buildings for these most recent levels.
As for the aspirationals.. it took me a couple months to save up for the SnR and I am totally fine with the idea of spending a similar amount of time earning the cash for the FoC.

First the sit and rotate and now that chocolate building.
WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.
Also, $1 million for storyline buildings is also too expensive.
Not all of us house farm and have ugly Springfields.
The higher dollar items ($10M) are for those who are sitting on tons of cash and have nothing to spend said tons of cash on.
I don't house farm (I despise them) nor do I have an ugly Springfield, and it normally doesn't take me long to gather the cash needed for updates. I also don't care about multipliers so that doesn't play a factor for me. I usually try to keep a couple of millions on hand for the updates, after it happened to me once and it took me a few days to have the needed cash. - I think it's great. Having higher priced items just prolongs the game, as it gives you things to work towards. I saved for a long time to get the sit and rotate and will now have to wait a long time to get the chocolate tower. I do not house farm.

I don't but a single item that gives bonusses, i don't. Have a House farm. Yet i have enough cash. Freemium players can gather Ten million in twenty days easy. If you'r level 45 that is. But One million is not too expensive.- I have too much cash so buildings being this expensive are good, at least for me,
And my Springfield isn't "ugly, and I don't house farm either  - I have everything except from the chocolate building. I have used moderated house farming but even without it, I'm always at the last level since the summer of 2013. Also with the 100+% of multiplier, the unique buildings, and the freemium & premium characters I earn almost 250.000 per day. Now you tell me why certain buildings are so expensive...

I don't know why so many people on this forum are still adverse to housefarming. Not only do you get extra cash, but it gives your friends extra things to tap during events.
If you do not have a housefarm and you have a tendency to go several days without logging on, you likely have nothing to tap.
I suspect those people that HATE house farms are big fans of them during this event ;)- I really don"t mind the high price for the aspirational buildings. They give me something to work for. Although the recent updates seem to have me going in circles money-wise, I'll get there eventually. :D
