Why hide gifts?
You don't get to pick where you place the bags. That lack of control can lead to them being dropped behind a building or elsewhere

Well if you are using the names to reciprocate gift giving then the people hiding gift bags are only hurting themselves so just let them do what they want.
I actually think its fun to try to get the gift bags to land in funny spots and think it is actually hard to get all 5 gift bags hidden even if you try to hide them.- Yeah I don't get why people do that. I like for my neighbors to see the gifts from me.

I dont ever hide gifts but sometimes it just happens because you cant really aim well with the drop. I have dropped some in water because that's just kind of funny.- The dropping of gifts isn't particularly accurate so I have left some well hidden ones quite by accident.
As a test, when I dropped a couple in a neighbour's SF a couple of hours ago, I picked a relatively open space and dropped the first in clear view, then moved slightly to the right, only for the gift to fall to the left of the first one behind a shrubbery (Ni).

same here, my Kindle account gets an astonishing amount of gift bags and the account that I play everyday all day gets literally all of 10 in the am gift drop.
