Uh...:
1. All events have been do-able "freemium" since I started playing, waaaayyyy back at the start of 2013. The only time it didn't seem possible (on paper) was Halloween 2015 (Act 3) - fighting M'nthster had currency bonuses that increased the total, but you weren't made aware of it unless you noticed your totals before & after. I've usually cleared 'em with at least 4-5days to spare.
In all honesty, if you're not playing regularly during an event (say, at least 3x a day), you shouldn't expect to get everything. If it was so easy, diligent players would be finished & bored within the first week!!
2. As with 1., events are usually staggered nowdays so people don't get bored. I cleared Halloween 2013's items in the first week, and had 4+ weeks of boredom (& lots of lovely bonus donuts!!). The key to freemium gaming is enticing spending, and for that you need to retain players. That's what EA seems to be concentrating on with all these multi-Act events for the last year+.
3. Especially of late, EA seem to have moved away from encouraging rushing to encouraging purchasing. Limited-time decos & characters help with the event, and "always available" premium characters can help from time to time (Monorail, S Heights, Xmas building tasks, etc.). It's nice to something for your donuts rather than rush for an early award.
So all in all, I do disagree with most of what you said.
But it IS just a game, so if you don't enjoy it, it's probably better for you that you do something you value with your free time. :-)
