I leave em up. Town looks like a disaster sometimes but I don't really care.

Ever thought not everyone shares the same opinion as you? I for one plan to leave the building out as I do all of them. Even though I am tight on space as is.
This is why I said "most people."
For people who put an insane amount of (borderline pathetic) attention into their Springfield's (like me), they'll likely put it in storage.
