I leave em up. Town looks like a disaster sometimes but I don't really care.

For people who put an insane amount of (borderline pathetic) attention into their Springfield's (like me), they'll likely put it in storage.
It's a choice that you are making, it isn't EA's fault. There are likely only a few on the board who will store the building after the event, the vast majority of those people who put "insane amount of attention" decorating are going to leave it out.
