Online Career Mode - Prestige Reset

So I have managed to get my lightweight fighter to Prestige 6 in online career mode. I've been wanting to switch to a different character in the same weight division but I don't know if doing so would reset the prestige progress for that particular fighter. Does anyone know what happens or have tried doing something like this before?

EDIT: Tried it. You do lose all prestige progress for that character when you assign another fighter in that weight class slot. You also don't get those evolution points back.
