UFC 6 Grappling Wishlist: Bring Back the Grappling Glory!🤼‍♂️

Hey fight fans,

With UFC 6 on the horizon, I wanted to spark some discussion about how grappling could take a massive leap forward. Let’s be real: grappling in the UFC series has always been a make-or-break for players. Here’s my wishlist of features that would elevate the gameplay and make grappling just as satisfying as striking!

1. Clinch/Grapple Control Against Cage (Like UFC 3)

Let’s bring back that gritty, realistic clinch game from UFC 3. The mechanics allowed for more fluid position control, and defending wasn’t a guessing game! It felt earned. Grappling in the clinch should feel more dynamic, with options for foot sweeps, takedowns, or simply dirty boxing. Foot stomps and shoulder strikes included! Emphasis on control, players shouldn’t be able to get out automatically!

2. Body Triangle Position!

Why is this still not in the game?! The body triangle is one of the most dominant positions in MMA for back control, yet it’s completely absent.

Suggestion: Add the ability to lock in a body triangle and slowly sap stamina while hunting for a submission. It would add an entirely new level of strategy to rear-naked chokes.

3. Elbows from Full Mount (UNMOUNTED) think Charles Oliveira!

Full mount needs more tools to feel devastating! Fighters should be able to rain down elbows without hopping to postured-up mount.

This would allow for smoother transitions between strikes and submissions without feeling repetitive.

Imagine: Landing slicing elbows, forcing your opponent to panic, and then snatching an armbar

4. Grappling Stamina System

Grappling exchanges should heavily tax stamina, but efficient fighters should have bonuses:

Example: Someone like Khabib doesn’t lose as much stamina while grappling, but striking-heavy fighters tire quickly when forced into extended wrestling exchanges.

  • Also bring back other lost submissions like the north-south choke and the bulldog choke.

Grappling in general also needs different animations to prevent it from becoming stale. Striking is dynamic enough but on the ground it's always the same. There are some alternate animations but they are rare and conditional.

Just make some scrambles that just result in the same thing - move from position A to B - but that look different.

And it seems most want the clinch game back. If this is not fixed in 6, i might not purchase this time. It is vital to mma...
