When they go to the Xbox store, have them hit the button with the 3 dots on it. See if the trial version is available there. Do this in a web browser at xbox.com. It should send push the trial version to their consoles.

My friend is gamesharing it won’t let him download the trial

Only the account that purchased the subscription will be able to play the trial.

On Xbox there is gamesharing and if they gameshare there friends can play those games too. Thats Xbox’s policy. So it is a problem if the person he is gamesharing with isn’t able to play the trial
