How EA Can Significantly Improve Online Career Mode
What's up EA! I'm Ozzy Kidd YT, a UFC content creator who's spent a lot of time playing UFC 6 and competing in its online modes.
I wanted to share some feedback on how I believe Online Career Mode could be significantly improved. I genuinely think this mode has the potential to become one of the best parts of UFC 6, and with a few changes, I could see it attracting even more competitive players and content creators.
1. REWARD PLAYERS FOR COMPETING AT HIGHER DIVISIONS
Currently, players can deliberately derank by searching for matches and immediately quitting. There is no matchmaking penalty for repeatedly leaving matches, meaning players can deliberately lose their way down the divisions to face weaker opponents.
Once you drop to a low division, you can fight much weaker opponents and potentially finish fights in seconds. Meanwhile, fights against better players in Division 20 can take considerably longer.
The biggest problem? You receive the same XP for a win regardless of your division. This means deliberately deranking and farming weaker opponents can earn you significantly more XP per hour than challenging yourself against better players.
Why would I compete against the best players in Division 20 when I could deliberately lose matches, drop divisions, beat weaker opponents and level up my CAF faster?
My suggestion: Reward players with more XP per win based on their position on the leaderboards. The higher you climb, the more XP you should receive for winning. This would incentivise players to compete at the highest level while allowing them to upgrade their CAF faster for their achievements.
You could also award more Division Points for beating opponents who use higher-rated fighters.
The game shouldn't reward players more for beating weaker opponents than for challenging themselves against the best.
2. INTRODUCE A 30-MINUTE PENALTY FOR REPEATEDLY LEAVING MATCHES
I don't understand why players can repeatedly quit matches without facing any meaningful consequences.
EA should introduce a 30-minute matchmaking suspension for players who repeatedly leave matches early. If someone continually quits instead of accepting their losses, they should have to wait before playing again.
This would discourage deliberate deranking, make it harder to farm weaker opponents and encourage players to finish their fights properly.
3. ADDRESS THE WIN-RATE EXPLOIT ACROSS THE GAME
This issue is unrelated to Online Career Mode specifically, but it still needs addressing because it affects the wider online experience.
When you view your in-game profile, you can see how many fights you've won and how many fights you've completed. From those statistics, you can calculate your overall win rate.
However, there's a serious problem: when someone loses by DNF, their number of completed fights doesn't increase.
Here's how people exploit it: when an opponent knocks them out or submits them, they instantly quit the game before the post-fight celebration. The match ends as a DNF loss, but their completed-fight total doesn't increase.
If someone does this every time they're about to lose, their wins keep counting while their DNF losses don't increase their completed-fight total. This means they can artificially maintain an inflated win rate, potentially even 100%, despite losing plenty of matches.
I know nobody else can see your overall win rate in-game, but that doesn't make it any less ridiculous. Your statistics should reflect your actual results, not reward you for quitting immediately after being knocked out or submitted.
This is another reason why a 30-minute penalty for repeatedly leaving matches is necessary. Players shouldn't be able to manipulate their records and avoid properly taking their losses.
4. MAKE ONLINE CAREER'S PROGRESSION SYSTEM ITS BIGGEST STRENGTH
One thing I absolutely LOVE about Online Career is that you're constantly developing your CAF as you play.
For example, if you regularly use your jab, cross and lead hook, you can level up those moves. As you progress towards five-star moves, your fighter becomes better suited to your personal playstyle.
My plan is to specialise my CAFs in the moves I actually use before spending any remaining points on other areas. Imagine how strong and well-developed our fighters could become after a year of playing!
With UFC 7 potentially still years away, there's plenty of time for players to build their fighters and create different CAFs with completely different playstyles.
Even if you encounter someone who spends five rounds holding you down, you're still gaining valuable experience with ground transitions and reversals. Over time, you can develop better transitions and unlock options that make you harder to control.
Compare that to regular MMA Ranked. You can spend an entire five-round championship fight against someone who refuses to do anything except hold you down. On accelerated clock, that's 15 MINUTES of real time!
Personally, I'd never quit because I refuse to give someone the satisfaction of making me leave. But after enduring those 15 minutes in regular ranked, you have nothing to show for it in terms of fighter progression.
In Online Career, at least you're developing your fighter while enduring that frustration. Even difficult matches can help you improve your CAF in the long run.
That's why I genuinely enjoy Online Career so much more than regular ranked. You're building a fighter around your own playstyle, improving your moves as you use them, and becoming stronger the more you play.
5. BRING THE BIGGEST UFC 6 CONTENT CREATORS INTO ONLINE CAREER
I can genuinely see the biggest UFC 6 content creators playing Online Career instead of regular MMA Ranked or Stand and Bang Ranked if EA implements these changes.
Think about the content opportunities! Creators could build specialised CAFs, showcase their progression, compete on the leaderboards, experiment with different fighting styles and challenge other top players.
There would be a reason to keep coming back, not just to win matches but to develop your fighter and see how far you can take them.
If EA rewards high-level competition properly and addresses deliberate deranking, Online Career could become a major part of the UFC 6 competitive and content creation scene.
I believe these changes would give creators and everyday players alike a genuine reason to invest their time in the mode.
6. MY FINAL SUGGESTIONS
🥊 Give players more XP per win based on their leaderboard position.
🥊 Introduce meaningful progression rewards for competing at higher divisions.
🥊 Award more Division Points for beating opponents using higher-rated fighters.
🥊 Introduce a 30-minute matchmaking penalty for repeatedly leaving matches early.
🥊 Fix the fight statistics so DNF quits cannot be used to manipulate win rates.
🥊 Preserve what makes Online Career great: the feeling that every fight contributes to developing your CAF.
🥊 Make Online Career rewarding enough to attract the biggest UFC 6 content creators and encourage more players to compete in the mode.
I genuinely believe Online Career has an excellent foundation. EA just needs to give players a reason to compete at the highest level instead of exploiting the system for easier wins and faster progression.
I can see Online Career becoming significantly more popular than it currently is if these changes are implemented.
Please consider this feedback! I'd love to see Online Career reach its full potential. 🔥
