Codies/EA Thank you for WRC!

I just wanted to come on here and say thank you guys for the awesome game that is WRC. I can't believe I paid a little over $40 bucks for this game at launch and already amassed nearly 450 hours of pure rally fun which is more than any rally game to day in that span of time. I wasn't around to pre-order DR1 but I was able to for DR2.0 and was there for its launch. It was a bit rocky no doubt as am sure you guys remember but after time it grew to become the best rally game out there next to RBR. I know some would disagree but truly, while WRC has some kinks still to work out, it's still in a far better shape than DR2.0 was at launch and I couldn't be happier or more optimistic for its future. I love this game to death and really appreciate all the hard work that went into it.

I will say, I hope you guys are able to get back on the bandwagon soon. The community has been eating itself alive lately and I find it worrying that some believe WRC Gen or DR2.0 are still better rally games. I think once you guys start getting some more patches out and those heavily requested features like VR and Triple Screens people will simmer down. I also think, if you guys really wanted to win over the community, you could announce that WRC won't be a yearly release but will include DLC with the new teams/cars we can purchase. Plus, I really want to drive on the new locations for WRC 2024 soon! (Poland & Lativa)

I just know things are shaky right now and if you guys end up doing yearly releases, a lot of the community that has stood behind you will walk away (sadly, myself included). I am all for paying for DLC's to support the devwork and keep me coming back for years like I did with DR2.0 but I know myself and many others would be very much against yearly releases. Why if you guys wanted to win over a lot of people, especially those poor KT fans, doing DLC's over yearly titles would pay dividends in that regards.

Anyways, the main thing is I just wanted to say thank you for everything and that I am really looking forward to you guys getting involved with the community again so things can settle down. I know the holidays took a lot of you away but because of that, negativity and doubt have been running rampant. We need you guys to come back and show these doubters who the best rally game devs are and to show all those who say WRC G or DR2.0 is better how wrong they are! Ha! I am just tired of the negativity whether in Steam forums or even the WRC Discord. It won't take much to right ship, I just hope its sooner than later fam! I believe in you guys <3

Thanks for your time and the amazing game too. Have a wonderful weekend! Take care EA/Codies!!!

@ScarDuck14 I am super, and thanks for asking!

That is the way to do it! I would love to see those video clips! Fall off a mountain right to the finish line!

Gameplay is absolutely key. The more details you see in the game the better! "career to have proper podium celebrations" This I have seen mentioned a few times but I can 💯send this over to them as feedback for you though! At least get this documented so we can see if more players have the same feedback!

@EA_ShepardJust my take. When I’m playing the game I feel a lot of love went into it by the team. Maybe getting to grips with using a new engine in unreal took longer than expected and/or the budget/resources didn’t stretch to adding all the little things that add to the immersion. If that’s the case.. They did the right thing and concentrated on the important stuff first. I’d be massively disappointed if the game had all the immersion but none of the gameplay I feel like a god mechanics

I’ve had worse finishes. Sweden in the snow. Slightly got it wrong Coming out of last corner just couldn’t gather her up in time and hit the finishing line gate and didn’t cross the line. Cost me ten seconds and stage win 😂. But it’s funny some game you get enraged through stuff at tv and quit blaming everyone but your self. But. Because the handling physics are just awesome and (it’s not a hardcore sim people) come with a little extra fun and personality. You can’t be angry with the cars or how they handle. Cause most of the time when I’m not crashing and I’m dancing on the brakes/throttle and nailing the perfect Scandi flicks.. huge huge smiles. Can’t blame it on the stage design being hard. It’s Rally not circuit racing. I think they are perfect foil. Awesome handling fun time cars that make you a true believer. You are the almighty. But well can’t stack it all in our favour. Oh no. That wouldn’t be cricket. So Codies stage design team wanted each stage design capable of making people cry looks babies. When we get it wrong but punch the air and scream when we get it right.

Never once have raged quite this game. Where F1 a game I put on average 600 hours each new game. I’ve broken many many thing in my lounge because it’s always one thing works great but another doesn’t. WRC feels like every department spoke to eachother throughout development. F1 feels like day be release. Each department adds what they are responsible for to the game not knowing if it works with the other parts. Which upsets me I’ve been a codemasters Fan OAP for 30ish years. And When they get it right it’s a big banging banger off a game. Plus being British developer and me being a chest thumping proud Brit. It cuts deep when they  fall short.

Anyway genuinely thankyou for taking the time to reply. For reasons you know I’ve lost that loving feeling 😔

@EA_Shepard   Firstly I apologise for serious more spelling mistakes in my post than normal.   As I post fairly frequently. 😇. Think I’ve worn out my phone’s touchscreen 😂

Anyhow there are a dozen compilation videos from  this YouTuber from game release to a couple off weeks back.  I found entertaining.  What’s more it has clips off only time I’ve ever seen the E-Sports sim racing Aliens.  Crash and burn  like normal people.  Was nice knowing I wasn’t as bad as I thought in the beginning.

As I mentioned previously.  All the clips in the videos have racers crashing, swearing then laughing about  their own demise.

I’m guessing you’re now CM in charge of WRC Board.   If there’s anything I can help with.  I’m just a DM away

Well yeah if they make the game good people will like it more what the hell are you on about.

ATM this game is not worth my time, let alone my money. It needs a lot of work which is not gonna get because the team was reduced.

Unfortunately EA ruins everything they touch and this is no exception.

It's a shame cos this time around we only got one single rally game and they delivered a broken game. There is no next gen competitor. This is a huge blow for rally sims

I completely agree. EA WRC is a travesty. It’s no longer a sim, but an arcade game for the casual player. Their advertising was misleading and dishonest and the graphics look like a PS2 game. There is a reason popular review websites like IGN gave it a 6/10. Its accurate.

@ScarDuck14 No need to apologize. We are all good people here! I appreciate the feedback. I sent it on over to the team as well! They love seeing players provide feedback like this. I am not the main one. I decided to jump into the boards and help out for a while. I actually cover the BioWare boards, TSTO, and most of the RPG boards.

We have all raged in a game. it is a part of the journey, but when we come by a game we love, even with bugs, it can be a great experience. I have raged in some of my favorite games, even though I have played endless hours of them.

This is why we love having that feedback. If one player is experiencing rage or joy, we want to know why! It helps improve the player experience. All of the feedback given we send directly to the team so that feedback is seen daily.

@EA_Shepard my feedback is you should implement triple screens before anything else. Then keep working on the physics.

You have the only rally game/sim this gen but people are still choosing a 20 year old SIM over it. There is a huge untapped market.

@Pawer08 You're not wrong! There is a massive market for things like this and it is something I think should be explored more!

While at it also explore not making this game unplayable (for Linux players and for those who at time of purchase did not agree to installing such intrusive software, otherwise it will still be playable) by implementing a useless and unnecessary kernel level anticheat instead of working on things players have been asking for.
