So there is even no attempt to "repair the big mistake (great anticheat stuff)" but just to milk the cow in the agony state...
Thank you that my money (45 Euro) was grabbed and thats all now.
Bought on release to support WRC niche franchise.....
Well EA... i am speachless.
Unfortunately I'm in the same boat, EA grabbed my money (full price) and patched the game unusable for me.
But it seems that the sale brings them another money and player push. The Steam player numbers were going up a little, now around 650 players and so they got back the 2nd place in ranking by player numbers from WRC 7. DR 2 is No. 1
The Steam rating is nevertheless mostly negative -> Surprise, in the EA shop (where I bought the game) I'm not able to rate the game.
I can understand you but the this temporary sale players can also be in the same boat as we both.
Someone buy a game and cant play it...they have at least a refund possibility... WE DONT.
The potential customer is upset and will not buy it anymore.
So i dont know if someone by EA realize that... guess not.
We can see it here in this forum too.
Lot of statements with critics and there isnt even an attempt to calm down the customers or try to give a hope for a solution to make the whole mess better.
Nothing.
Personally i do not care about steam player numbers.
Players come and go but only what the game offers and which quality it has.
When the game is ok and the devs care about the customers in some okeyish way then its fine.
But here lot of players cant even play the game or like me just pushed away because of this dumb company enforcement of something what people dont want.
When they remove this anticheat and fix VR so maybe i would think about a reinstall but as long this problematic malware is present i will not install it.
Intersting to see that a rating is not possible.
But its clear why....

I want a full refund of the original purchase.
A company just can not do this. Release a patch that makes the game unplayable for so many players.
Unbelievable. - 6 months ago
Yep, sad story. I can't run the game neither on my Win11 machine nor on my SteamDeck. I contacted EA support to figure out what was possible and after getting through two different agents asking me similar questions (similar to what you get if you call your cable support, them asking you if you plugged your TV) and giving random instructions such as stopping system services from Intel used by the cpu/mb, the second agent ended up telling me, quote "you bought the game almost a year ago we cannot support you further".
So yeah good luck with a refund... 😮

@Shadow15982"you bought the game almost a year ago we cannot support you further".
^^
This a complete slap into face.
But its that what ive wrote....they dont care at all.
And there is no refund.
Ive played the game with passion until v1.8 even to have to renounce VR and hit above 100 hours.
EA destroyed the game with v1.9 and i am glad that ive uninstalled before the update because i saw the problems coming.
Ive didnt had problems running the game before v1.9.
Steam also do nat care and they stick to their 2h rule....
And EA is laughing about all of us. Again. - 6 months ago
Well got about 100 hours of gameplay pre-1.9, so in my book I got my "money's worth". Still though, really a shame. I think they don't realise that folks like me would have happily bought the future DLCs and even future new games in the franchise.
Now, not so much anymore, so they might be laughing but for how long ?

Ive didnt had problems running the game before v1.9.Out of curiosity I checked further and the same issue is affecting all of EA games basically, so it is linked to the anti-cheat and whatever conflict it may have with your machine, nothing to do with the game version. Long story short : this will never be resolved until the anticheat gets changed.
@EA_Groguet, please escalate that to the appropriate dev team, neither the game team nor the EA app team can do anything about this. It needs to be addressed by whatever team is in charge of developping the Anticheat. Maybe ask them to ensure it is not trying to find Origin. At least some folks get the following error : Failed to obtain Origin directory...

There is no conflict on my machine.
As ive wrote before i cant say if Wrc is able to run now or not because ive uninstalled the game short after release of v1.8.
My action was preventive.
But this do not change the fact that other gamers have lot of problems after release of v1.9.
There are tons of thereads on steam forum for example.
People cant even start the game so the problem is there.
I will only install the game when the unfortunate/useless anticheat will be removed.
But this will not happen.
No conflicts here so it has to stay like that. - 6 months ago

Same for me, as said before.
Unfortunately as expected we can see there are no answers and no interest to solve this anticheat debacle at least for the Single Player Mode.
The cheaters are the minority and no real problem for the game which is mainly focused on single player. You / We could see some cheaters in the leaderboards but who cares.
BTW this does not change with EA Anticheat. The focus of the Devs should have been on quality and performance updates instead of introducing a kernel level anticheat.

Well said mate.
As we can see EA is not interested to solve this problem coz they dont see any.
We customers are not important.
New content like the useless liveries or driver suits are the main focus.
But i will not list off everything whats wrong and this will nothing change.
I dont care anymore coz i have other simulations which i can play.
EA just dont realize that they betray lot of rally fans and at the end their money source.....
The day will maybe come but then its too late.
And i guess that the big laughters will be loud..... - 6 months ago
there still seems to be cheaters on the leaderboards. so not only did they break the game, they failed to even get rid of the cheaters.
It's ridiculous for a game developer to act like this. Obviously they don't care about us gamers.
I just can help myself thinking which idiot thought "he let's do a kernel level anti cheat, which is going to give a lot problems, but what the heck let's do it any way"And then all those idiots who tested and signed of on it. Unbelievable and not even a "we are looking into it" and a "this is being investigated and will be solved next patch"
I don't care about leaderboards and cheaters. I just want to play single player off line, which i paid for.
