This was in second season of career mode, happened identically in first season. Same happened with Rally Japan first season too.

I was having a good even back and forth with the AI's driving my WRC2 builder car, however at around the last/second last service stop and second last stage I had quit intending to continue later, when i returned the AI seemed to run fine for the second last stage but had huge stops at about 3/4 of first sector, then similar in second sector, landing at about 2 minutes behind by the end of the stage.
