Apex freezes after first match – RTX * + Ryzen 9800X3D – all fixes tried

Platform: PC

System:

  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX *
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9800X3D
  • RAM: 64 GB DDR5
  • OS: Windows 11 (up to date)
  • Game version: Latest
  • Installed via: EA App
  • Driver: NVIDIA Game Ready 560.xx (tried also 559.xx rollback)

Issue

Every single session, Apex Legends freezes after completing the first match.

The game runs perfectly fine during the first match (240+ FPS stable), but right after it ends — in lobby, loading, or pre-match screen — the game do a micro freeze evry 5 seconds

It is not a crash. No error code. No dump. It just locks up.

Things I’ve already tried (none worked):

  • Deleted all config files in Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local
  • Disabled all overlays (Discord, NVIDIA, Steam)
  • Reinstalled EA App and cleared AppData + cache folders
  • Reinstalled Apex Legends on a different SSD
  • Forced DX11 with -eac_launcher_settings SettingsDX11.json
  • Adjusted videoconfig.txt:
    • Texture streaming to *
    • Made file read-only
  •
  • Changed all graphics settings (including shadow detail, streaming budget to NONE)
  • Turned off Reflex, v-sync, g-sync
  • Performed clean GPU driver install with DDU (tried 3 different versions)
  • Set process priority to HIGH and disabled full-screen optimization
  • Launched as admin
  • Tested with and without high polling rate peripherals

Notes

  • This is the only game with issues on my system.
  • All other demanding titles (Warzone, ACC, F1, etc.) run flawlessly
  • The issue seems to be triggered by memory overflow or driver conflict after match #1.
There are similar reports from users with RTX */*and 7800X3D/9800X3D-class CPUs.

Temporary workaround

Currently the only working workaround is:

  1. Play one match
  2. Exit the game manually after match
  3. Relaunch Apex
Not sustainable, but proves it’s a persistent session memory or post-match state issue.

 Please investigate

This bug seems linked to next-gen GPUs or driver incompatibility, possibly due to VRAM handling or anti-cheat interaction. It’s affecting multiple users with new builds.
If devs need logs, dumps, or a dxdiag, I’ll be happy to provide it.

Thanks.
