That section directly compares the Power Sword with the Baseball Bat and Kunai. The Baseball Bat and Kunai transition much more naturally when switching into sprinting or sliding, while the Power Sword draw animation is abruptly cancelled.
That comparison is why I believe this is not simply normal animation interruption behavior. The Power Sword appears to have a different and visibly broken transition.
