Stuck on mountain on Broken Moon

I was attempting to fly East over the underpass directly to the West of Quarantine Zone, but I didn't make it and got dropped on top of the mountain. The countdown popped up for me to return to the play area but I was unable to make any significant progress in any direction so the timer expired and I died.
