Yes this also results in an unfair advantage for the player who is above the altitude threshold if the opposing pilot(s) are below the threshold since the player with the higher altitude may be able to see the enemy pilots on their radar however, the enemy pilots are unable to see them (despite not being below radar).
I do agree with you on the fact that the most recent Q&A was pathetic, avoiding the most common and pressing questions and only addressing low hanging fruit with generic responses is ridiculous. It unfortunately feels that the Devs are out of touch with the franchise and are completely missing the mark with their core audience, and main selling point.
The new design philosophy with the upcoming maps are steps in the right direction but there's no point in having large scale maps and all out warfare when the vehicles aren't ready for it. For example, Golmud as a map is great, but its ruined for a lot of people due to the IGLAs being broken (one shotting full health aircraft, acquiring and maintaining locks without LOS, going through countermeasures, etc) and below radar not working on uneven terrain (such as the mountains, and certain areas of the valley below B) that it makes flying an unpleasant experience.
The openness of the map is meant to challenge a pilot's positioning and give infantry opportunity to fight back however unaddressed issues in this game remove counterplay causing a lot of people to just go back to firestorm or firestorm/lib to fly aircrafts because at least there they have the mountains providing cover and shorter escape routes should countermeasures fail as they routinely do.
Ultimately Tsuru Reef will likely face the same fate once the novelty wears off and will likely face it at an accelerated timeline due to the boat's new 'magic' missile along with the broken AA launchers if they do not prioritize the issues plaguing aircrafts.
