Audio drops out shortly after launching game

My game is no longer playable after updating the game to version 1.1.3.5 on Steam. Upon launching the game, everything behaves normally for 1-2 minutes, but then the audio completely drops out. This bug effectively mutes all audio running in and out of my PC. This includes other apps that are not BF6. The audio meters in Windows will show signal as if audio is still present, but nothing actually passes through to my speakers, or comes in through my microphone. When I quit the game, my audio is immediately restored.

I've tried updating/reinstalling audio and video drivers, reinstalling the game, tweaking every audio related setting in-game and in Windows; sample rate, bit depth, Windows exclusive mode. Nothing seems to fix this bug.

I've put 200 hours into this game with no issues at all. I'd like to be able to play again.

System specs:

Motherboard: ASUS TUF X570-PRO (WiFi)

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x

RAM: G Skill Flare X 32Gb DDR4 3200

GPU: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080

Audio: RME HDSPe MADI PCIe (Running 96k/24-bit)

    Update -
I determined that the HDMI audio output from my GPU still works after the RME audio driver cuts out, but this it not an acceptable solution for me. I use my RME PCIe sound card for all system audio, speakers, headphones, microphone, and routing. For some reason, it would appear that this latest patch causes compatibility issues with my RME audio drivers. Surprising, considering this card works seamlessly with every other application I've used.

  • I'm unfortunately having the same problem. Unfortunately, two days ago, I've also developed a new problem with my AMD Ryzen 7 5800X: my CPU is doing more than my RTX 3090 Ti 24GB. After 277 hours, I can no longer play the game normally; I can't make any progress. Literally two days ago, I was still playing the game without any problems, and then one day I woke up and the game was unplayable. I've tried everything to fix it; the CPU isn't giving any errors. It's literally the game itself that's become unplayable. It started with the audio bug, and I got this thrown in for free. I hope you don't experience this, but I wouldn't be surprised if you do too, because I know several people with the exact same problem, even on consoles with the audio bug and then the CPU problem. Unfortunately, they're not responding to bug reports or anything; they deny the bugs in the game. The standard answer you usually get is, "It's your PC, not the game." That's something I heard several times.
