Can only run game if it's launched from Local Windows User account.

I can't launch Battlefield 6 from my main windows user account. When I launch on Steam it opens the anticheat splash screen then closes and nothing else happens. I created a local windows user that is not linked to a Microsoft account and the game opens fine through Steam from that user account. I would like to be able to use my main user account and not have to switch everytime I want to play.

  • This is the only workaround that's been working for me as well. But, I would at least like an explanation why this is the only solution that works for some. Is this an Anti-Cheat problem? Is it Microsoft??! It's getting annoying trying to trouble shoot this.

I'm stuck here as well. All of the other 'fixes' did not work. I'd really like to play on my normal account.

  • Had the same issue during the beta and now into launch. As a person in IT, I've put in nearly 20 hours into troubleshooting, trying to get it to work, following every article, tutorial, etc. I could find. I've uninstalled everything (even within GP), reinstalled, cleaned uninstalled GPU drivers, updated bios and Windows, set Windows Defender exceptions, everything... and the only thing that has worked so far is creating a local Windows user and launching from that account. Incredibly furiating. I've seen someone else use the Windows Media Creation Tool to "repair" their Windows image, and it worked for them, but not for me. I've tried basically every option, and the last one is factory resetting my PC.

I would PAY if anyone had a proper solution to this. I have seen so many people having the same issue. This needs to be recognized by the devs! (pls I'm begging lol)

    Platform: Steam
TMP 2.0 and Secure Boot enabled.
    GPU: NVIDIA RTX 5090 FE
    CPU: AMD 9750X3D
    RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30
MOBO: Asus ROG STRIX X670E-F GAMING WIFI
    2x monitor

  • I am also now running into this same issue. Just started happening earlier this week where I could not even open BF6 from steam, without it closing immediately. I have tried everything, and finally created a new local Microsoft account as that was the last thing I have tried. Under the new local Microsoft account, the game boots up and it seems I am able to play the game. Really hope EA addresses this issue and fixes it as soon as possible.
