Challenge expert in campaign assignments buged

I've just had the same experience, I didn't fire a single bullet and got the Steam achievement but the challenge didn't complete. Internet sources suggest doing this challenge on mission 5, so I'll go ahead and give it a go later. However, it should have counted there and Steam confirmed it was completed, so definitely a bug.
