Ideas
I no longer get the random FG indicator (even in the menus it no longer appears) with the following tweaks:
In game settings
Frame limiter - OFF
Nvidia Reflex- OFF
Upscaling technique DLSS (Quality) - I don't think this one matters though
Frame gen - OFF (obviously)
Nvidia App/Control Panel
Low Latency mode - ON
Monitor tech - G-Sync compatible
Power management mode - Prefer max performance
Vertical Sync - ON
But what I think makes the real difference is the RivaTunerStatisticsServer framerate limit. If you use MSI Afterburner then you most likely already have RTSS installed.
I set the limit to a FPS value I can maintain on most maps (158) and the Async method.
It lines up with Fr33thy's tests : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=frJ4sg9qFzA

Watched all of Fr33thy's video and did some of my own testing, I can confirm that reflex is bugged and just stuck on in this title. Not sure if that is what is causing this weird form of frame gen to be turned on automatically in the background when you're using the in game frame limiter or what, but I guess its possible.
As for now, solutions/workarounds that work 100% of the time for me.
If you want to use in game frame limiter, I suggest you remove the Reflex.dll files from the games folder, this will 100% disable reflex and the weird frame gen bug when using in game frame limiter, reference Fr33thy's YT video linked in the previous comment for how to do this.
If you turn HAGS off in windows then reboot (I don't recommend this option but do you) it will be impossible for frame gen to run in any game, which includes Bf6, so you can keep Reflex installed and turn off HAGS and use in game frame limiter with no frame gen enabling.
Last solution that I tested, and the one that works best IMO is the one LordAngelus mentioned in their original comment, it is also covered in Fr33thy's video, using RTSS frame limiter and using the "async" method to cap your frames, will cap your frames in game without the need to remove the reflex files (nice to be able to keep them installed) or the need to turn off HAGS (nice if your using frame gen in other titles) all the while eliminating frame gen automatically enabling. Not sure why this fixes it TBH but its the best work around at the moment, latency also has a noticeable improvement using this method.
I hope EA/DICE can fix this problem so we can just use the in game frame limiter or the one built into NVCP, but for now one of the methods above should 100% eliminate the bug.
