Frame Generation is randomly turning itself on

Even with the frame generation settings off, randomly I'll see the Steam Overlay FPS counter report that frame gen gets turned on for a second, and then turns itself back off. For example if the framerate counter says I'm getting "120 FPS" sometimes it'll suddenly say "120 FG" for just a second or two.

This is causing added input lag/delay and other visual issues that come from using frame gen for myself and others.

Based on other people on the Steam Forum testing if deleting the relevant dll files would forcibly disable it, it seems to be the Intel version of frame gen that's getting turned on randomly, since that's the one dll file that can't be disabled without the game crashing.

You can read more from all the other people who are experiencing this issue in these two Steam threads:

  • Started to happen to me yesterday randomly - played from the start and have experienced the issue before. Disabling vsync in NVCP helped in my case as my PC allows to keep framerate above monitor's refresh rate.

    Voting to make EA aware.

  • Still happening to this day. Hopefully maybe tomorrow's update will fix even though EA didn't mention it in patch notes. To get rid of this as of now is to disable reflex, not use DLAA, and don't use upscalling DLSS.

There's a file in the BF6 installation directory called “sl.reflex.dll”, back it up and then rename or delete this file.  I then run DLSS on performance mode and now no more FG only FPS in the FPS counter (when enabled on the steam overlay.   The difference for me is night and day.  A lot less insta-deaths and my bullets do actually register now.

Having this issue also i can avoid it by disabling reflex/fg/frame limiter but I don't want to do that as that pushes up past my refresh rate which disables gsync, then re=enables gsync when I drop below my refresh rate, which ends up feeling horrible.

  • Interesting I have been seeing FG all the time and wondering why. I have frame gen and future frames disabled.

  • I've got this too, didn't have it before last update though, its so annoying tbh I'm at a stable 120fps and it just causes lag which gets me killed ( well that is my excuse anyway)

It feels so horrible to have that randomly kick in or be enabled almost the entire time
it seems like it kicks in when you drop frames, and if they dont go back you had it will stay active, so in gun fights, it feels horrible
