Game capture problems with Shadowplay/Discord/OBS etc.

There seems to be some sort of problem specific to Battlefield 6 that doesn't allow capture.

I can usually record a game or two with Nvidia's Shadowplay, but eventually, this will pop up, preventing any further capture, which requires a full game restart to rectify. At the exact same time this occurs, OBS' display capture also stops working, and instead only shows the desktop background instead of the game, requiring a switch to game capture.

In this Reddit post you can find reports from people also having problems capturing/streaming the game on Discord as well as Xbox, which leads me to believe it's definitely a problem with the game specifically. It seems like it's being treated as some illicit piece of software that cannot be recorded, similar to how Netflix shuts that sort of stuff down.

I haven't been able to pinpoint what triggers it, perhaps tabbing out of the game between rounds, but switching to full-screen doesn't have any effect.

  • Yep, very annoying bug. I found that for the instant replay option it will always turn off, but you can enable it IF you disable the desktop capture BUT it still just won't clip things as if it's off

IIt might sound dumb but for me the issue was caused by having my web browser open in the background. If you're on a PC, try going into the Windows 11 Graphics Settings and set your browser to use the Intel graphics you may need to add the browser manually. This only works if your CPU includes Intel graphics
