I own bf pro and shouldn't have to pay for a battle pass

I bought bf pro so I wouldn't need to pay extra for the battle pass, yet that doesn't matter now? Last season I got it automatically as was implied when I bought bf pro yet, this season we have to pay for it? This is a total scam and not what I thought I was getting when I bought the game.
