Matchmaking Issue – Bots Not Replaced by Players (North America Servers)

Hello,

I would like to report an ongoing matchmaking issue I’ve been experiencing on North America servers.

I am consistently placed into semi-full matches that are labeled as “populating with bots.” However, the bots are not being replaced by real players because no new players seem to join after the match has started. I understand the use of bots during the first few minutes to reduce queue times, but in my experience, bots remain in the match for the entire game.

As a result, I am frequently playing Conquest matches with 24 vs 24 players instead of the intended 32 vs 32, with a significant number of bots filling the remaining slots. Since no additional players join mid-match, the games feel slow and empty, and they take longer than usual to complete. Many of the bots also occupy vehicles (such as tanks), which further impacts gameplay.

I would strongly prefer to backfill into an already active match rather than play a full game that remains partially populated by bots. It may also help to merge two or three partially filled lobbies into one full match instead of running multiple underpopulated games.

For context, I am playing on North America servers with a stable Wi-Fi connection and typically have under 30 ms ping during matches. I do tend to play late at night, which may be a factor.

Thank you for your time and assistance. I look forward to your response.

i am having this exact issue for the last 4 weeks on SEA / OCEANA server, i dont think the game is that dead - this has to be some sort of bug!

Im about to move on from this game at this stage. I just posted the same thing today.

If you search, you can find complaints from 3 or 4 months ago... it was fixed and then it started happening again.

    https://forums.ea.com/discussions/battlefield-6-general-discussion-en/sea-lobbies-filled-with-bots-and-rarely-goes-past-24v24-players-on-32v32-conq/13227382

  • When playing Conquest at night (North America), I often end up in 24v24 lobbies instead of the normal 32v32, with nearly half the server made up of bots. This is a AAA game with plenty of players, so why are matches staying half-filled with AI?

Using bots at the start to reduce queue times makes sense, but in my experience they stay for the entire match. Once the game begins, very few new players join, so the server never fills up. Even when bots do get replaced by players, the match still stays around 24 vs 24 instead of filling to 32 vs 32, which makes the whole system feel broken. Sometimes near the end of a round it gets even worse and only one team still has bots, creating an unfair match.

The result is slow, empty-feeling matches. Bots love sitting 6 in a tank and cruising around the map, which drags the pace down. On a 24-player team, 6 bots in tanks leave 18 on foot. If 2 of those are bots too, that means only 16 real players are actually fighting and capturing objectives.

In a mode meant to be 32 vs 32, that effectively becomes 16 real players vs 16, turning what should be fast and intense battles into slow and frustrating rounds.

This is not just a North America problem. Players in Asia, Australia, South America and other regions are experiencing the same thing. Many players have already quit because of this issue. Fixing it would help save the playerbase and keep the game alive longer.

Please fix the backfill system or rethink how bots are handled.
