[Netcode/server] server desync/ ghost bullets, hit reg failure

I am reporting persistent and severe online gameplay issues in Battlefield 6 on PS5. These problems are now disrupting my gameplay to such an extent that it has become extremely difficult to enjoy the game.

INTERNET CONNECTION AND NETWORK PERFORMANCE

My internet connection has been tested and is working excellently. I play using a wired LAN connection. My ping is generally around 8–10 ms. My internet connection has also been tested independently, with no relevant issues identified.

During matches, I have recorded the following Network Performance Graph readings:

Measurement 1:

LAT: 8 ms

ALAT: 25 ms

SFT: 8 ms

PL IN: 0

PL OUT: 0

The Network Performance Graph problem notifications have appeared automatically several times during matches, despite low latency and zero packet loss.

SPECIFIC GAMEPLAY PROBLEMS

The following issues occur repeatedly:

1. Ghost bullets: I shoot at opponents, but my bullets do not register.

2. DMR hit registration: DMR shots that clearly appear to hit the target on my screen produce no hit marker or damage, even at very close range.

3. Inconsistent damage registration: Opponents seemingly absorb multiple bullets without normal hit registration.

4. One-shot deaths: Opponents eliminate me with what appears to be a single shot, even when I am already firing at them.

5. Enemies suddenly appearing: I sometimes die without ever seeing an opponent. In the killcam, the opponent is standing directly in front of me, even though I was looking down a staircase moments earlier. The enemy was not visible to me before I died.

6. Weapons stopping firing: During close-range engagements, my weapon sometimes suddenly stops firing automatically or appears to malfunction while I am holding the fire button.

7. Unexpected enemy positions: Opponents sometimes appear as if their position data is not being displayed correctly or in a timely manner.

MY EXPECTATIONS

I am fully aware that I am not an exceptional player and that I should not expect to win every engagement. I understand that losing gunfights is part of Battlefield, and I accept that my own skill has limitations.

That is not my complaint.

My concern is that gameplay is repeatedly disrupted by what appears to be hit registration, synchronization or server-processing issues. The frequency and severity of these problems make normal and enjoyable gameplay virtually impossible.

I have invested considerable time in Battlefield 6 and want to continue enjoying the game. However, with these persistent issues, the online experience has become extremely frustrating.

REQUEST TO DICE

I ask DICE to investigate these persistent problems seriously, with particular attention to:

The PS5 version of Battlefield 6.

Server-side hit registration and damage calculation.

Synchronization between clients and servers.

Time Nudge and possible timing inconsistencies.

The Network Performance Graph notifications that appear despite excellent connection statistics.

I would appreciate an honest, technically substantiated response explaining whether these problems are known and what concrete measures are being taken to resolve them.

I am providing actual Network Performance Graph readings to demonstrate that these problems occur despite a low ping, a wired LAN connection and zero reported packet loss.

I hope DICE will take these reports seriously and work towards restoring a reliable and enjoyable online experience.

Kind regards,

A Battlefield 6 player on PS5

  • These issues need to be treated as a critical priority by DICE and addressed ASAP. Reports of inconsistent hit registration, desynchronization, ghost bullets, delayed enemy positioning, and abnormal damage are not limited to PlayStation—they are affecting PC players as well, even with low latency, zero packet loss, and stable wired connections. Please prioritize fixing the core game before worrying about adding more skins and cosmetics. If the fundamental gameplay is this inconsistent, players will eventually stop playing, and players who stop playing aren’t buying skins. Fix the game, make gunfights and servers reliable, and people will actually want to invest in it. Personally, if Battlefield 6 becomes consistently reliable, I’d happily spend over $1,000 on skins over its lifetime—but the core gameplay has to work first.
