Screensaver NOT working after BF6 playthrough

Installed latest Nvidia 581.42 drivers using DDU for Day1 BF6 launch.

Windows 11, 24h2 - 26100.6725

Windows Screensaver setting is set to kick in after 1 minute of inactivity, and to display login screen on resume.

Display set to power down after 10 minutes of inactivity.

The settings were working just fine for 1.5+ years.

After installing BF6, I am finding that if I reboot, all is well.

But, if I login to the game and then when I'm done playing (no programs running in foreground like a chat app or a movie or youtube) - or even in the background to be honest, my screen saver no longer kicks in.

The only fix seems to be to reboot.

I've also manually closed EA app (after playing BF6), but that doesn't seem to fix it either.

Can someone please look into this, or chime in if you're also on the same Windows build version and drrivers with screen saver settings enabled - to see if your display is going to sleep or not?

Thanks!!

FYI - I have the BF6 version for EA Play, not steam.

  • Also getting this problem. Happens on Battlefield 2042 also.

Strangely, powercfg /requests in powershell does not show anything unusual, must be something Battlefield is doing in the background? Only way to fix is reboot.

Never played BF2042 - super concerning that this has been a long standing issue then....

It's never been a problem on any of the other games

  • This has happened with every Battlefield game going all the way back to at least Battlefield 3. I think it has happened with other EA games like Mass Effect as well.

Pardon my French, but what the actual F???

This has been long standing bug all this time across multiple generations of games???

  • Have you tried admin launch?

    Check for new drivers.

    Ex. Windows 11 Version 25h2

    Install error - 0x800f0993

    rollback.

    auto-detect.

    Anti-aliasing TAAx16 etc.

    Look into NVIDIA App presets.

    Recommended settings.

Like we've all said, this isn't an individual problem, it's the game engine disabling it. It's been a long-standing bug on frostbite games
