Spawn screen and other UI are frustrating with analog stick drift

I have very worn out analog sticks, and even though I set the deadzone settings accordingly, the UI seems to ignore those settings and reacts very sensitively to stick drift.

  1. Spawn screen is frustrating: The cursor apparently starts moving while you are bleeding out, so when you get to the spawn screen, it's already pinned into a corner so you have to scroll all the way back to the map. Selecting a spawn location is very annoying with stick drift as it is hard to keep anything selected (selection is very spazzy). The spawn screen cursor needs to obey the joystick deadzone settings, have a smoother input curve to make small adjustments easier (small inputs should move the cursor slower), and selections need greater magnetism to improve ease and speed of selecting.
  2. Challenges -> Assignments: The UI here allows switching tabs left/right using the right analog stick, even with the slightest input. This means that, if your right analog stick drifts, then staying in one tab becomes difficult as you will randomly switch tabs while trying to view challenges. This UI needs to require much larger input from the right stick before switching tabs.

With further experience, I don't think the spawn screen issue is caused by stick drift. The issue seems to be caused by the spawn screen cursor's initial position being in the top left corner when you enter a match.

I have the same thing on xbox, its not only in challenges. Any kind of adjustment needed with analog stick in settings, just shoots the presetting out of whack, like marker colors and such. When trying to host a portal, it pulls the menu up constantly, you have to hold analog down, then use D-pad just to navigate the menu.

It is also affects the Tank and IFV treads, if sitting still, it wants to drift the vehicle into movement, specifically turning it, very obvious with the IFV.

Selecting spawn locations becomes a battle with the cross, just to go where you want.

I tried 2 other controllers and still affects it, even bumped the dead zone in settings up, makes no difference. None of my controllers have drift issues.

Can confirm that this is probably not an issue related to stick drift. Happens to me in the spawn menu as well, and I have no stick drift in game. As other have noted elsewhere, there is something not working quite right with the deadzone.

I believe cursor spawning in top left is the cause of this in the spawn screen yeah.

Challenges menu on the other hand is unacceptably annoying to navigate because menu dead zone on right stick is non-existent. On Xbox at least right stick registers input without even touching the stick, we’re talking it being maybe a millimeter off-center. But for left stick you have to go practically all the way before input registers (as it should be).

  • Yes, many people are struggling with this. Can we get on with the fix already? Shouldn't be that hard.
