Stuck looking down in Gaunlet

I joined a game of Gauntlet.  The starting animation was descending a rope from a helicopter where my character is looking down at the ground.  When my character hit the ground and the game started my character was stuck looking down like the animation descending the rope.  I could walk around and turn using the left stick (controller) but could not aim or look anywhere but straight down.  If I lay prone the issue goes away while laying prone and I can aim in all directions but when I stand up the issue reappeared and I could only look straight down.  I quit the game and joined another game of Gauntlet and encountered the same issue.  I quit the game again and joined a game of Breakthrough and when I loaded into the game I had the same problem where I could only look straight down.  I had to shut the game down completely and reboot it to get the problem to go away.
