Toggle W and Autosprint - Useful change and bug fix
First off I want to start by saying as a gamer with mild arthritis I can't hold down W all game anymore. For the past decade I've been using an auto hot key macro that essentially was a W key toggle as to be a one to one action. Now that AHK cannot be used in BF6 I almost returned the game on release but chose to stick this one out.
Current Autosprint is bugged. It consistently gets stuck in autosprint and the only way to fix it is to stand still for a second and not do anything then it resets. I'm not sure what causes it, maybe hitting the sprint key which I do out of habit. Personally double tapping W is not a solution I like at all, I'm looking for less button presses total but maybe someone else prefers it.
What I'm pleading for is a auto walk forward or simple a W toggle key. AHK macro I used literally just held W down, I usually bound it to a different key, either Q or a mouse button 4/5 and it was an easy way to travel medium to long distances in games, even in vehicles before I take over the control. Hitting the key, or W would stop the toggle. This is an important distinction, right now autosprint stops at any key/button press which means you can only move direction with mouse. W toggle would allow strafing and other moves and act just as W was still held down.
If i have to run really far, I'll just redeploy because it kills my hand and the more I do it, the shorter of a gaming period I get to play. I routinely had the AHK macro on in the beta which ran if started AFTER the beta was up and running and it was perfect. But since BF6 Launch the game shutsdown when AHK is started. I'm not asking for AHK to be allowed but at least at in the Accessibility tab or keybinds somewhere the ability for autowalk or better a toggle w or toggle forward key so it works in vehicles too. It shouldn't be too hard to do and would make a world of difference
Not asking for autosprint, I can hit sprint after w toggle to run if needed, just asking for a forward movement toggle. For a game with a million different keybinds and options, and i love having all these options, I seems weird that something that has been around in wide open games for at least 30 years hasn't been added. I've been using the in game option or the AHK macro in games that dont have it, for decades now.
TLDR; please add a toggle walk or toggle W key option - and autosprint currently gets stuck frequently
