Unable to use the new weapons on closed weapon playlist

So with the release of season 2 i wanted to try the new weapons, i unlocked the lmg via the pass and wanted to try it out only for it to not show up in the selection screen in match, so i equipped it in the loadouts menu to try and jump in a match with it already equipped. It reset me to my previous weapon.
I am able to use it in the open weapons playlist but i don't like open weapons.
