Unbinding Controls (like fire weapon) Doesn't Save

By default, right ctrl on keyboard fires the weapon. Upon unbinding this control, it still functions as if left to the default. This is an issue for me personally, as right ctrl is my hot button for muting/unmuting in discord, so each time I do this, my weapon fires. If this is the case for me, I imagine there are others with this issue, and other issues with in-game actions that, despite being listed as unbound, still happen when the default button is pressed. If there are any fixes, that would be great.
