Impossible to drive in the wet

I'm not a big big player of the game, so I automatically upshift and downshift. But in wet conditions the game is upshifting with really low RPM so I lose almost 2-3 tenths or places in every straights. It is horrible to get a decent lap time in quali and impossible to fight with AI. Hope someone else have the same issue.
