Online Career entirely just issues

Me and my friend just cannot play together on a 2P career, Whenever I host he gets disconnected while in game and he was told his game version is incorrect - this is on playstation. If I try to join him I have countless issues of the game not loading, refusing to connect and just softlocking. We can rarely play but we both can play online just fine as long as it isnt on a career mode.
