Ball Possession Feels Broken – Players Never Truly Control the
I think there’s a serious possession bug in FC 26. As a casual FUT player who plays a patient, possession-heavy style (I regularly average over 70% possession even in high-scoring losses), I’ve noticed that you are never truly in control of the ball when dribbling or receiving passes.
Here’s what’s happening:
- When running into space and shaping up for a 1v1 with the keeper, the ball doesn’t stick to your player’s feet. Even if I release sprint to slow down before shooting, the ball still travels that extra yard forward — just enough for the keeper to scoop it up.
- This makes chipping the keeper almost impossible, because the ball is always just out of reach when you try to lift it.
- I thought it might be tied to PlayStyles, but even players like Vitinha (Close Control)can’t seem to keep the ball tight when defenders approach — it just pops away.
And this completely breaks striker roles:
- False 9 and target forward players can’t properly trap the ball when dropping deep.
- And honestly — why should a false 9 or target forward receive the ball almost facing the defender instead of with their back to goal? It makes it far too easy for the defender to poke it away immediately.
At the moment, it feels like the game never lets you truly possess the ball. Every touch feels loose, heavy, and unpredictable — even for top players.
For those of us who enjoy controlled, build-up football, this makes FC 26 feel inconsistent and unrewarding.
