Passing it on to the team is probably the worst thing you can do. Its abundantly clear that they are intent in pursuing this new contract feature. If it's the same team that broke 'heading' last year something needs to be done about this 'team'. They are clearly neither listening to their customers, or indeed taking the trouble to even test the updates they implement. This is a multi billion pound franchise that year upon year this 'team' seems intent on wrecking.
