CE-108255-1 Error when working with edited teams or custom squads
Since the most recent EA SPORTS FC 26 title update (November 2025), the game repeatedly crashes with PS5 system error CE-108255-1 when working with edited teams or custom squads. The issue occurs consistently in several areas, making the game almost unplayable for anyone using customized rosters.
The crashes happen most frequently when:
* Editing or transferring players between clubs (Club Transfers menu)
* Creating, loading, or saving custom tactics or preset tactics
* Starting a Kick-Off match with any edited or customized team
The game freezes and returns directly to the PS5 dashboard with error CE-108255-1. Restarting the game or the console does not resolve the issue. Clearing cache, rebuilding database, and power cycling provide no improvement.
This exact same issue affected EA FC 25 last year and was only fixed in a January 2025 title update, even though it was not mentioned in the patch notes. The current behavior in FC 26 appears to be the same underlying problem with custom squad data.
Reproduction steps:
1. Start EA SPORTS FC 26 (fully updated).
2. Go to Club Transfers and manually move multiple players.
3. Edit or save custom tactics or custom formations.
4. Start a Kick-Off match using any edited or custom team.
5. After confirming lineups or tactics, the game freezes and crashes with CE-108255-1.
Frequency: Always
What has been tried:
* Restarting PS5
* Power cycling and unplugging console
* Rebuilding database
* Clearing system cache
* Verifying all updates installed
* Checking for overheating or storage issues
The issue persists across all attempts.
This severely impacts players who rely on extensive custom squads (e.g., community leagues with 20 custom teams), as the game becomes unstable or unusable during editing and gameplay. A fix similar to the one released for FC 25 is needed.
