Passing was bad before last patch, but it's reaching new lows

It's driving me crazy. I bumped the difficulty down by 2 levels in Squad Battle because passes are just horrendous. Players with 86 passing can't hit a 2m pass without any opponent close. It's so bad. Went from Legendary to Pro because all my passes go anywhere.
But bronze opponent teams with 2 chem can play tiki taka, which to me screams BIG PROBLEM. What's the point of players stats and chem?!
