Player wants to play despite being unavailable

In manager career mode, I had an unexpected event occur where my player needed time off, which I granted him. However, he then sent a message asking to play the next game (the option to say 'we have bigger games coming up' wasn't there so I either had to upset him or say he'd play). Therefore, he became upset that I didn't play him, even though I physically couldn't.
