I’m updating —
after almost two weeks without being able to play,
and after going through quite a few online representatives.
I gathered the courage, with support from one of the agents,
deleted my user, and added a new one. The game opened normally.
Only the settings were reset, but my Ultimate Team was not affected,
and the game is working properly.
For anyone who ever gets stuck in a similar situation —
you can delete the user; it does not affect your Ultimate Team.
Thanks to everyone who responded and helped bring up this idea.
