Rival Challenge completed but not given

I played a match of division rivals with the challenge called Last Strike which had the description: “Score the last goal in your next match and earn a item pick”. I scored within 5 mins and my opponent left at 1-0 with 9 mins played. Yet when I pressed advance, it labelled the challenge as incomplete. Why? I technically score the last goal.
