Unable to equip unlocked boots in Pro Clubs

When I select boots that I've unlocked via objectives or purchased from the store, after pressing the menu button to save and exit, the boots revert back to the all-black boot. This also happens if I press the "back" button and select "yes" when it asks me if I'd like to save the changes.....

It happens for most of the unlockable boots that I've tried. Sometimes the change will take and I'll have the right boots for a game or two, but they always go back to this black boot at some point. This doesn't happen with the standard boots of actual brands, just the unlocked ones.
