Unreal Defensive Reaction & Input Reading
I am surprised more people aren’t talking about this. It is becoming one of the most frustrating things in FUT 6.
When I play a pass to my final attacker, the opponent’s defender suddenly snaps into a reaction that looks completely unnatural. It’s as if the game feeds them my input before I even make the pass. Even holding L2 to shield or block doesn’t work — the defender somehow cuts across or tackles instantly, no matter the distance or timing.
Also, passing is broken. Simple and straightforward passes are being read and intercepted too perfectly. It is bizarre how players suddenly snap into interception possession of a pass when they were nowhere near and sheer physics suggests that inertia should take them a different direction. If the games is not real on basic player motion and passing physics, is the game even worth playing? I wonder. Defenders read the pass as if they already knew my input. Passing triangles don’t exist in this game because , the opponent can snap in to intercept the pass, irrespective of which player you choose. And we are only 4 weeks into the game - joke!
This creates two big problems nobody seems to be talking about:
- Input prediction / reaction assist – The AI seems to boost the defender’s reaction time well beyond human capability.
- Possession denial – The moment the ball reaches your striker, he’s automatically pressed or bumped off, even when your inputs are correct and you shield the ball.
What’s crazy is that this contradicts EA’s claim that defending is now “manual.” If it’s truly manual, why do defenders auto-pounce on attackers right as the pass is made — even before the player can switch or react naturally?
It feels like these assists are still quietly controlling the outcome, especially in Division 6 and above in FUT, where everyone seems to benefit from this system. Most players just sit back and rely on this sudden snap and they win the ball. Right now, possession-based or build-up football is almost impossible because every final pass is being intercepted by defenders who react with inhuman precision. It literally feels like trying to attack is a trap.
This mechanic is seriously breaking the flow of attacking play. Is anyone experiencing this?
