What's the point of the difficulty settings in Player Career Mode?

The only thing that changes when you raise the difficulty is that the enemies move more aggressively and become stronger.
My teammates are still completely useless.
The enemies get significantly stronger, but my teammates haven't changed at all.
Doesn't this just mean the debuffs have gotten more powerful?
Shouldn't my teammates, just like the enemies, act in a way that matches the difficulty level?
I don't need teammates who just hold me back.
