FUT - Several gameplay issues

There are several gameplay issues that are making passing and defending extremely frustrating, particularly lofted through balls, player reactions, and players failing to interact with the ball.

Lofted Through Balls Are Consistently Overhit

Lofted through balls feel extremely inconsistent and, in most situations, are massively overhit.

It doesn’t seem to matter how much power is applied or how well the pass is aimed. The pass frequently ends up traveling far beyond the intended receiver, often all the way out for a throw-in. When trying to compensate by using less power, the pass can instead be significantly underhit.

There seems to be very little middle ground where the game produces a properly weighted lofted through ball.

This is especially noticeable with players who do not have one of the passing PlayStyles/PlayStyles+ associated with this type of pass. A player with strong passing attributes should still be capable of playing a reasonably weighted lofted through ball without requiring a specific PlayStyle.

PlayStyles should make a player better or more consistent at a particular action; they should not feel like a requirement for basic passing mechanics to function correctly.

This problem also feels very similar to previous FC titles. Lofted through-ball weighting has been an issue before, and FC 27 does not appear to have meaningfully addressed it.

Players Failing to Interact With the Ball / Ball Phasing

There are also situations where the ball appears to travel directly through or extremely close to a player without that player attempting to interact with it.

The player does not intercept, control, or react to the ball even when it appears to be within a reasonable playable distance. Visually, this can look like the ball is simply phasing through the player.

This becomes even more noticeable because the next-player switching indicator sometimes does not activate correctly. The ball can be traveling toward or past another player, yet the game does not appear to recognize that player as someone who should become involved in the play.

Extremely Slow Player Reactions

Player reactions to loose balls, passes, interceptions, and changes of possession also feel unusually delayed.

There are many situations where the user can clearly see where the ball is going, but the controlled player either does not react or begins reacting far too late. This makes the gameplay feel unresponsive because the outcome seems to be determined by an animation or targeting system rather than the user’s input or the player’s attributes.

Expected Behavior

Lofted through balls should have a predictable relationship between input power, direction, player passing attributes, and the situation on the pitch. Players with high passing attributes should be capable of properly weighting these passes even without a specific PlayStyle.

Players should also reliably recognize and react to balls traveling within playable distance. The switching system should identify the appropriate player quickly, and players should not appear to allow the ball to pass through them without any attempt to interact with it.

These issues make passing and defending feel inconsistent rather than skill-based. Improving pass weighting, ball interaction, switching recognition, and reaction responsiveness would make FC 27 gameplay feel considerably more predictable and rewarding.
