Can’t see friends when in a party together.

Whenever we join a party together all we can see is each others gamer tags. Every now and then when doing a challenge together after bailing we can see each other for a short period of time or if someone else joins we can see each other but then goes away again. Can also see each other on spectate but as soon as we exit the spectate we are both invisible to each other again. I am on Xbox and he is on ps5.
