Controller Works and then Doesn't (PS4 Controller)
The issue I keep running into is that if I disconnect the controller, intentional or not, while the game is open (paused, un-paused, or in menus), after reconnecting the USB cable from my controller to my pc, the game will not reconnect the controller. I've tried unplugging my keyboard and mouse after loading up the game so that the only possible inputs are from the controller. I have tried disconnecting the cable and plugging it back in multiple times, tried a different cable, and tried minimizing the game tab then re-opening to see if that might work. I have also tested these methods with other games on the Steam client and just plugging the controller back in always works and fixes any disconnection issues.
The only solution that I have found thus far, is to quit the Skate app, then open it again while the controller is plugged in and that seems to work.
Items used: PS4 Dualshock Controller, Steam Client, USB cable to connect the controller to PC
Steps to recreate:
- Open the Skate game from Steam
- Plug in PS4 dualshock controller
- After loading into the game, ensure the controller is working by moving the character around
- Once you've confirmed the controller inputs are being received and functioning as intended, unplug the cable from the controller
- Plug the cable back into the controller
- Attempt to move around in game, navigate menus, or interact in any way with the game using the controller.
Acceptance Criteria: - Plugging in a PS4 Dualshock controller will always connect, and detect the controller and function properly and as intended. (Solution should not require having to close and re-open the game, or any other method than that listed under 'Acceptance Criteria''.)
