Physics bugs and glitches

Physics and game response have been poor for several weeks now. There are issues with each of the following:

  • Collision bugs (catapulting)
  • Grind magnetism (lock on and off)
  • Anti-pumping and transition response
  • speed and resistance

 

I didn’t report this at first because I suspected it had something to do with the upcoming Nike SB event. But the event has come and gone and the issues remain, showing little sign of improving.

I’ve attached clips of the collisions and grind response, as this is easiest to demonstrate. However, the general feel of the game is off, with a sense of excessive grippiness to transition (anti-pumping), along with magnetism to surfaces more generally - particularly when grinding.

I have supported this game on the basis that it does the core things well, but the inconsistency of the game response is killing my enjoyment of the title as a whole. I spend a lot of time filming clips, but the quality suffers when the physics make lines impossible 

If you are going to continue with the live service model, please consider a hybrid system where the bulk of physics calculations are local instead of via the server, in the way other EA Frostbite titles (like Battlefield) do.

    You're absolutely right, right now the core gameplay is buggier than ever!, there are SO MANY issues and it's getting to the point where I don't even know where to begin like staying locked into grind animations even after leaving the obstacle, bugged animation when doing a revert, reverts causing speed boost, grinds causing speed boost, character looking over he wrong shoulder when in a grind, missing push animations, objects like poles or bike racks magnetizing  your character into them as if he's trying to wallride which makes ZERO sense, grind magmatism even with 0 grind assist......the list goes on and the sad thing is most of these issues have been around prior to S1.  Devs please play your game and don't rely soley on the community feedback.

  • Another issue I have noticed of late is an overly strong drop-in/wall ride detection. I’ve just posted this on the game’s Discord server, but I’ve been trying to complete a simple line with a gap over a 3-foot gate for for the last 20 minutes, yet the game keeps drawing me out of my expected trajectory to wall ride this tiny obstacle and then bail. Or, it pulls me to the top to grind it, despite my assist sitting at zero. It’s massively frustrating.

    For context, this is a gap by the swimming pool next to Bonski. It’s approximately a 7 foot gap with a two foot drop, attempting to jump over a 45 degree object. Why the game is pivoting me ony the gate is beyond me.

    The physics allegedly are already done entirely client-side but when the physics glitches/bugs increase every Tuesday after reset when the game is busiest I have difficulty believing that. I usually play with crossplay disabled lately to have less busy servers so I encounter fewer bugs like this.
