Apparently Nute Gunray’s version of profit doesn’t count towards the global feat in conquest. Was this intentional?

I think there was always this risk. It's a bit like the Darth Revan death mark not counting. You or your team are not actively achieving it.
That said, I believe DR-DM was reported to the devs as a bug.
