I'm new to EA Forums and honestly didn't even know it existed, I'm used to Answers HQ so apologies in advance if I'm not doing any of this proper. Apparently, Forums is the new stomping ground for these types of things and it feels a little loose as of now considering how the move is already going, but I'll do my best. Regardless. Following the format of Answers bug reports (it's what I know, and was quite efficient/helpful when diagnosing/comparing my own issues imo):
Never had Mods or CC, TS4 and EA app updates up to date as of 12/10/24. My game and packs: TS4 on PC (not Legacy), Horse, Rent, Toddler, Tiny, StrangerVille, Seasons, Romantic Garden, Riviera, Magic, Perfect Patio, Pastel Pop, Parenthood, Paranormal, Outdoor Retreat, First Pet, Moschino, Modern Luxe, Laundry, Kids Room, Island, Home Chef, Holiday (free), HS, Growing, Greenhouse, Get Together, To Work, Everyday Clutter, Eco, Dream Home, University, Dine Out, Desert Luxe, Decor to the Max, Cozy Kitsch, Bistro, Country Kitchen, Cottage, Cool Kitchen, City, Cats & Dogs, Industrial Loft, Book Nook, Blooming, Crystal, Outdoor Playtime Digital
Build Mode Time of Day glitch/bug. Every time I enter a lot in Build Mode, it's visually Night time. Except, the time of day shows as Morning. Doesn't matter if the lot is occupied or inhabited, what type of lot it is, what size, what world, what time of day I last ended Live Mode in or when or how, and in every save file of which I have 4, even in a brand new save file: every time I select a lot and enter with Build Mode (not Live Mode under control of occupied sims and then switch to Build Mode from there, ONLY when entering any lot anywhere directly with Build Mode), it's dark exactly like Night time but says it's Morning and the first thing I have to do is cycle the time of day so I can see properly. After I cycle through, morning is morning, night is night, etc. This is a recent issue, began around a month ago but I couldn't tell you the last update that occurred when it started happening. Hoping other users are having this same issue and can more accurately report when it began so that we can get closer to fixing it. It could've been 2 weeks ago or 4 months ago, for all I know. Time is funny that way.
I expect to enter a lot directly in Build Mode with the visuals matching the settings: time of day Morning (or Afternoon would be fine but I believe standard was always Morning), and the lighting to reflect that setting. I have not tried completely uninstalling the game and every file on my computer associated with TS4 to re-download everything and see if that fixes it. I refuse this option as a diagnostic tool or a fix, as the process is far too complex for basic users to execute properly without EA developing a legitimate and convenient program to assist (unless they already did that and I'm late to the party but I doubt it tbh). If there is a less intrusive fix anyone knows about, please advise. Not essential to solve, definitely simple to work around; but the less hang ups we encounter, the better our experience is and more desire we have to play and expand. Holding out hope that this issue will conveniently fix itself, so to speak, with the next update like most of my niche weird bugs/glitches often do.
